WE SERVE: Children and youth in Island County who can benefit from having a positive role model. WE PROVIDE: We offer one-on-one mentoring by pairing children ("Littles") with adult volunteers ("Bigs"). These mentors spend time with their Littles, providing friendship, guidance, and support through regular activities and conversations. The goal is to help youth build confidence, develop social skills, and create meaningful relationships. OTHER: Children between the ages of 6 and 18 in Island County are eligible. There are no special requirements—just a willingness to engage and participate in the program.

Program to help Whatcom Dream Financial Empowerment Course Graduates purchase school clothing and supplies for their children. Participants can purchase a $100 gift card for only $25. Proceeds go into a scholarship fund, which allows Whatcom Dream to offer Financial Empowerment courses for free.

STAR is Island Rec's daily after-school program for youth in grades K-5. The program is held at Friday Harbor Elementary School after school until 6pm. STAR provides a safe, supervised, fun and enriching environment. The daily program includes a snack, outside play time, organized games & activities, and homework time. Students can drop in and parents will receive a bill at the end of the month.

A play program for children with and without intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD), ages 2 to 7 years old. The program introduces basic sport skills, like running, kicking and throwing and offers families, teachers, caregivers and people from the community the chance to share the joy of sports with all children. Summer Day Camp is Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. From 9:00-1:00 Campers will participate in structured group activities that include arts and crafts, outdoor play, active group games, messy sensory activities, walking field trips and more! Between 1pm-5pm students will enjoy supervised free play. Children must have completed kindergarten to attend Funhouse Summer Day Camp. Costs $150 per week.
Partners N Pals is a summer day camp for all children ages 6-21 in Kennewick, Richland, and Pasco, with a focus on children with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Activities include playing at schools, parks, swimming, bowling, horseback riding, arts and crafts, and more. A Jewish organization offering children with special needs a chance to connect with teen volunteers in a variety of programs, camps & activities.
Afghan Health Initiative partners with Kidvantage to provide children ages 0 to 12 years old with important items such as carseats, strollers, diapers, wipes, baby pack-n-plays, bassinets, clothing, toys, books, and more. We are also able to provide items for expecting and postpartum mothers with maternity wear, personal care goods and mother-infant support items.

Provides new coats, scarves, gloves, blankets, shoes, socks, backpacks and other warm items to low-income, homeless, and foster school-aged children.
Aspiring Youth provides after-school social groups and supportive summer camp programming for kids ages 5–18, as well as programming for young adults ages 18–26. We support youth whose needs can be met with a 4:1 participant-to-staff ratio. A formal diagnosis is not required to participate. Many of our participants are autistic or have ADHD, mild cognitive delays, learning challenges, or social anxiety. Our programs are based on an experiential learning model and are designed for verbal participants. In general, we are a good fit for kids who benefit from conversation-based learning and are working on skills like building confidence, perspective-taking, flexibility, self-advocacy, and social problem-solving.
